Volunteers are the heart and soul of every rescue, without whom we would not be. We are all non-paid volunteers, who give of our time, talents, sweat and tears for a common goal - to save dogs.
Even you, with just a few clicks, sharing posts and links on Facebook, Instagram (active feed to the right) and other social media platforms can help in ways you can't even imagine. You never know what will capture someone's heart and persuade them to adopt, volunteer or press the "share" button. The beauty of social media is that the person sharing may not even know you, but happens to be a friend of your friend who saw a video, a photo that spoke volumes.
Here are just a few other ways to spread the love:
Probably THE most rewarding way to volunteer, and frankly, the most important for a rescue because we can't help any dogs without foster homes. Open up your home to a dog in need and take care of it as your own.
Please fill out a foster application here. If you cannot foster, but want to financially sponsor a pup, please contact us or go to the donate page and list the pup you'd like to sponsor in the notes section of the PayPal donation.
Visit a prospective adopter's home and complete an online report.
Assist with pick up and drop offs to rescue events, veterinary appointments, foster home or final placement in adoptive home.
Adoption & Special Events
Adoption events are crucial for potential adopters and for the general public to meet dogs they didn't know they needed. Assist with planning, garnering of donated goods & services for raffles/auctions, physical set up & breakdown of equipment, handle dogs, sell merchandise and respond to inquiries about Thank Dog Rescue.
We're always looking for new venues and vendors to donate goods and services for raffles and events. Please email to to let us know about any rescue friendly vendors or events in your area.
Take photos and videos of adoptable dogs and events for online promotion.
Design brochures, flyers and other promotional materials.
Fundraising / Grant Writing / Legal
Are you a wizard at pleading a case for grants to further our cause? Or do you have a talent for planning events and have some innovative ways to raise money? Then, we need your talents to add much needed funds, to help even more dogs.
These innovative middle schoolers raised a total of $1,200 for Thank Dog Rescue by having Hat Day and Pajama Day at school!
Veterinarian / Vet Tech
We would like to make additional contacts with veterinarians throughout the state, to facilitate care for our foster dogs, to lessen the burden of unnecessary travel.
If you are a Positive Reinforcement Trainer (R+) like Dr. Ian Dunbar, Victoria Stillwell or Dr. Sophia Yin, and would like to help us assess dogs, offer training advice or practice implementation of behavior modifications and other training, we would love to hear from you!
